BOOM BOOM

Rain, rain- Go away!

Despite the rather BLAH weather we have been having lately, I decided to do my tempo run today. I only needed to do 0.6 miles total so I knew it wouldn't take too long to complete. However, when I woke up this morning, it was raining again. BOO! I waited and waited and FINALLY the rain seemed to stop for a bit. So, I put on my gear and headed out. (And yes, I know I could've gone to the gym and the treadmill but that's not nearly as much fun.)

I was going at a super fast pace for a few reasons:

1. It was a tempo run, it's supposed to be fast.
2. I knew it was bound to start raining again.
3. Half way through my run I heard thunder boom-booms. That's not good.

Nothing will make someone run faster than the impending doom of thunder and lightening. Rain doesn't so much bother me, but I have no intention of getting hit by a bolt of electricity thankyouverymuch.
In any case, I did 0.57 miles in 4:56. It's ok to be impressed. I know I am. It's most definitely not a pace I could hold (right now) for any long distance... probably not even 2 miles, but every bout of speed work helps, right?

I'm a new runner too and doing my first half marathon in november. Well done on going out this morning ... was it the thought of lightening that made you run so fast!
