Focus

"Pray that your loneliness may spur you into finding something to live for,
great enough to die for."
-Dag Hammarskjold

Lately I've been enjoying the time I've been spending on myself. When I feel like I'm getting down from being lonely, I give myself a "me night". This involves a hot shower, nail polish, lotion, amazing smelling candles, a plethora of beauty products and something decent to watch on television. Then I coup myself up in my room and pamper away. For some people this may not work, but for me, it's very relaxing and comforting. Instead of twiddling my thumbs and thinking over the same negative thoughts I try to avoid, I channel my energies into a much more positive experience. It definitely helps.

And, if that doesn't help, my 24hour gym is a great way to boost my endorphins (as well as get me going in my runner's training). Speaking of which, I heard about this couch to 5k running program and I think I'm going to use it as my guide for the next 2 months. I can also download an app for my phone which is super sweet. I just have to maintain the discipline of following this program to the "t". (I tend to slack off when life becomes too hectic- and then it's even harder to start again.) So, I've got the app on my phone as well as Activetrainer online as my homepage so whenever I sign on, I'm reminded to update/check in/go running! I feel good about this, and I say that in all honesty.

Sitting down and just reflecting on everything I have been doing over the past few weeks helps me to realize that I am happy. I am alone and I am happy. I never thought those two things could go together but they do. It's somewhat intoxicating to think about it- a heady sense of contentment fills me lately and I do not want to lose it. I intend to continue down this path... I am anxious to experience the journey. My loneliness has given me new focus and I'm loving it.

I am so glad to hear that you've found a way to change negative energy into positive. It's incredibly difficult for some people to do so and that you've already found a way is incredible. Way to go!

I will certainly help keep you on cue for the couch to 5k program. Come late November, we'll all do a 5k together as a little celebration.
