Anyone Want Some Cookies?

There really isn't an excuse for my behavior. There never is.

It's just life and lack of time-management skills that prevents me from updating my blog. Too bad I can't update it telepathically because, if that was the case, I would have already posted at least 5 updates by now. That's right, sometimes I start blog entries in my head, but never get a chance to actually sit down and type them out.

Anyway, part of my current disappearing act was that it is GIRL SCOUT cookie time! Hooray!
No, I did not dive head first into a box of Tagalongs... though I very much would like to do so. I actually work for the organization and have been relentlessly doing programming with my girls and collecting their cookie sale info. This week, the boxes come in and I get to run delivery nights for 3 different towns to come and get their boxes. Woot! It's fun, but it makes for some very long days and very little free time.

On top of that, I'm currently on the tail end of a double ear infection and monster sinus infection. I mean, MONSTER. To the point where, everything was so compacted in my head that my face was swollen and it hurt to touch. Youch! However, I'm almost done with my meds and I am feeling better. I'd say I'm now, finally, at about 85%. So, even though I have my first 5k of the year this Saturday, I haven't run in two weeks. Ugh! I am planning on going to the gym tonight though. I get out of work late, so on my way home, I'm going to hit the gym and do a quick 1-2 miles. I'm not going to push myself, just want to make sure my lungs/sinuses can handle it. I think they can, but we shall see!

Today, I posted on my facebook how I need some serious motivation and people to keep on top of me. I'm still battling the same 10lbs and I'm just tired of it. I want them gone and done with. It's been almost 6 months and I'm stuck on this horrid weight plateau! GO AWAY 10lbs!!! I'm so close and there's no excuse as to why I haven't dropped them yet, other than sheer laziness and lack of dietary discipline. I'm kind of fed up with myself, to be completely honest. I feel like I'm letting myself down and it makes me angry.

So, now I'm trying to pump up my determination and motivation to get back on track.
I'm giving myself bribes, which do you think will be the best?

If I drop these 10lbs, I can:

-buy a new pair of shoes
-treat myself to a day at the beach
-throw myself a party
-get myself a really nice mani/pedi

As much as I would like to treat myself to all of the above, I feel that that just isn't doable.
So, I'm polling all of you lovely readers to help me decide which would be the best Goal-Getter option.

Let me know in a comment!

A Run...And a Runny Nose

I FINALLY managed to get a short run in last Thursday after work.

Color me excited!!

It felt so good to be on the treadmill and just moving. I could feel stress start to instantly melt away.
If I hadn't been so crunched for time I would have run longer than 20 minutes, but alas, my life stops for nothing lately.

However, my running high was short lived. Boo! The next morning I woke up and I sounded like Barry White (sexy, right?). The cold I had been fighting finally won. My nose was stuffy and running and my chest was all congested. I dosed myself with a ton of Mucinex, Zicam and Emergen-cee (plus tissues and cough drops) and went to work. By the end of the day (right before my show- because the show must go on!) I started to feel a bit better, but definitely not close to 100%. I was able to do the show because, thankfully, my character's voice is in a higher register than my actual speaking voice so no one could tell I was sick. As soon as the show was over, I went home and climbed into bed. I was hoping that if I slept as much as possible before work the next morning, I would get better. NO SUCH LUCK.

I awoke Saturday morning even worse than the day before- Barry White was back for another performance. Needless to say, no work for this sick kid. I spent the entire day in bed, Netflix on the television, medicine on the side table, and going in and out of consciousness. I think I slept about 14 hours total. It was so nice. I woke up about an hour before I had to be at the theatre and felt a tiny bit better.

I really felt the best on Sunday. I was excited because my voice was almost back to normal and I wasn't coughing as much. However, I woke up this morning and I think the cold is trying to beat me again. My coughing started up again last night (but whether that's because I changed the type of Mucinex I was taking or what, I don't know). I wasn't exactly Barry White this morning, more like Elaine Stritch (points if you get that reference, double points if it made you laugh).

I'm hoping to get a lot of rest this week so I will be better by Christmas. I am going to do another 20 minute run on Wednesday, though I don't want to push myself too much if everything is settling in my chest (no bueno for my lungs).

Anyone have any home remedies they use that work pretty well? I'm up for trying anything!

Nothing New Here Folks

Still not healthy.
Only slightly a little bit happier.

Two shows this weekend and I still sound like a man. Yay.

But I lost 4 pounds. Yay for a lemon ice, saltine and Halls throat drop diet.

More updates when I'm human again.

Don't Rain on My Parade

Sorry for not updating last night. We had a winter wonderland of a storm hit during the show, so I stayed at a friends house. The same thing happened tonight, but it wasn't nearly as bad of a storm so I made my way home for the evening.

I will be honest, I'm probably not going to update my food and exercise for the past two days:
1. because most everything is essentially the same.... at least exercise-wise and
2. because I feel like crap and am in a rotten and foul mood.

So, I apologize in advance for my ranting and lack of happiness and sun-shiny brightness. As soon as I return to a healthy physical state, I'm sure my mood will lift as well.

I am angry. Not just because I'm sick and feel awful, but because in being sick I couldn't finish my 5 miles for the week and Lord only knows if I will be able to run any day soon. Also, I'm missing out on being able to bond with my cast mates. Everyone went out tonight for a cast members birthday and I had to scuttle home and hide in quarantine. Granted, this was my own decision and I probably wouldn't change it, I don't want to give people what I've got because it is not fun. Besides passing along my plague (as we can all plainly see) when I'm sick, I'm rotten and mean and have a very short fuse. No one deserves that kind of personality to be around on their birthday... or even just in general. It has nothing to do with my friends, family, or anything besides me. I'm just mad at myself for getting sick and having to be in quarantine. Sounds crazy... probably is. Don't care.

I'm not going to harp on "oh woe is me" because no one wants to hear that shit and as I said before, this is of my own choosing. just wanted to clarify why I will not be doing my usual update tonight.
For now, I've taken multiple cough meds, a flu med and an Advil PM. I have Halls and Vicks by my side should I happen to wake up out of the medically-induced coma I'm about to embark on. See you all in a few days hopefully.

P.S. I wonder how many calories are in the medicines I just took. Will find out late. Peace!
